Today I want to talk about something that can make a massive difference in your relationship with the guys you’re dating, your boyfriend, or partner – how you show him your love and respect.
You see, as tough as men want to be on the outside, they still have a strong desire and need to feel loved, respected, and appreciated!
When men feel this from the woman they’re with…it changes their whole world. Most often, in response, they step up and become a better lover, friend, partner and companion. I’m telling you, men REALLY respond when a woman knows how to make them feel validated!!
If you learn how to intentionally show him that you love him, in a way that LANDS for him, it will absolutely transform what is possible in your relationship.
When you first start dating someone, this is easier. Because things are exciting in the beginning! You will notice things more, want to make him happy all the time, and he will be more conscious of you as well. As time goes on, many couples slip into complacency and forget to show up for each other.
But if you stay COMMITTED and INTENTIONAL…it will only get better and better. The flame will stay lit, and he will look at you in a way every girl wants to be looked at by a man.
So how can you show your man you love, adore and respect him?
Here are 7 great ways:
#1 Express Gratitude
Genuine appreciation goes a long way. Not only will it make him feel noticed and valued, but when you are grateful for what he does, he will want to do even more. Notice the thoughtful things he does for you. Don’t take anything for granted. Many professional relationship therapists will agree that true, consistent gratitude has the power to turn around a failing relationship.
#2 Listen To And Show Confidence In Him
When it comes to talking, men are extremely different from women. Most men are not as eager to talk things out as women are. When your boyfriend/partner starts to talk to you or open up about something stressful in his life, really give him your attention. Don’t try to fix it, don’t share your opinion unless he asks, try not to interrupt except to clarify, and just listen. If he stops talking or is having a hard time composing his thoughts, try the magic three words, “tell me more.” Once he is done, remind him that he is strong and capable and that you have complete confidence that he will make the right decision. Instead of solving it for him, convey your trust that he can and will figure it out.
#3 Physical Connection
Most people want and need to be touched in order to feel connected, loved and noticed. This doesn’t just have to happen in the bedroom; it can and should happen in small moments all day long. Rub his back while you’re waiting for an appointment, squeeze his elbow when you pass him in the kitchen, give him a kiss when you leave, and surprise him with an embrace when he is working. There is such a thing as too much physical touch, so watch his cues and communicate.
#4 Give Him Undivided Attention
If you’re doing something together, try to be 100% present. Show him you value him by giving him quality time without distractions. Make it a point to leave your phone at home when you’re on a date (or at least turned off in your purse). Do activities that require interaction and conversation. At meals, be THERE with him.
#5 Show Interest In His Passions
Once in a while, ask him lots of questions about something he cares about that you’re not into (like sports, his favorite video game, etc.). Let him teach you how to golf or do something he’s good at. This will really light him up.
#6 Let Him Know He’s On Your Mind
Do small things to let him know you’re thinking about him. Grab his favorite coffee and bring it to him at work, buy the kind of bread he really likes at the grocery store, turn on the football game before he walks in the door, and surprise him with his favorite takeout for dinner. Anything that lets him know you’re paying attention.
#7 Ask His Advice
You know what men love to do? FIX THINGS! A man feels validated, respected and needed when you ask for his opinion on things and listen to what he has to say. Let him share his thoughts and ideas and really consider them. You don’t have to do everything he says, but you should give him a chance to help you figure things out.
You’ll likely notice the effects of these strategies right away once you start implementing them. If you’ve been together for a LONG time, it might take a little patience and endurance, but just wait. As you continue to show up for him, he is going to show up for you, too. If he is a high-quality man, the happier and more loved he feels, the better a partner he is going to want to be for you.
Intentionally showing him your love and respect is just the beginning – relationships take work! But you’ll find the small day-to-day things are what matter the most.
