It’s hard enough to be ourselves in life. But how to be true to yourself when dating takes practice and commitment.
Do you fully embrace yourself as an emotional being? When on a date with a guy, or with previous boyfriends, have you downplayed your feelings?
As women, we are often discouraged to fully experience our emotions. We are taught to be quiet, to stop making things such a big deal, to not be “dramatic”.
Unfortunately, this teaches us that our emotions are something to be ashamed of, so we downplay our feelings. We think our feelings are “too much” for people to handle, especially our romantic partners.
We get embarrassed when we cry.
Trying to “turn down” our feelings before expressing them so as not to overwhelm.
To be “cool” we downplay what we’re feeling.
Sometimes, we even bury our emotions without ever expressing them. Making it difficult to identify what they are when they’re coming up.
Sound familiar?
This is why I’m encouraging you to put more trust in yourself and in the guys you date.
If they can’t “handle” you as the feminine, emotional, feeling person that you are, then they don’t deserve you.
It’s that simple.
A healthy man will recognize (and LOVE) that part of being feminine is feeling things deeply. It is a beautiful part of who you are and something that should not be stuffed under the rug. How to be true to yourself is something we can all do better with.
Vulnerability is beautiful.
Your emotions do not make you weak.
They make you strong.
NEVER avoid your feelings for fear of making someone uncomfortable.
In the past, have you played small with a guy? Svoided showing your true feelings?
What would you do differently now, if that situation happened again?
How to Be True to Yourself When Dating:
I want to give you a challenge.
Give yourself PERMISSION to step into your feminine; embrace feelings and emotions, be empathetic, drop into your heart and allow yourself to feel what you feel.
Practice sharing your feelings and noticing how something makes you feel in your body. By visualizing how you would respond to future situations, you can take action easier when the situation arises. You will feel more comfortable.
